  • Don’t consume alcohol at the beach.
  • Most Maui beaches have a curfew except for special occasions.
  • Bottles made from glass can easily shatter, so don’t bring glass bottles to beaches.

  • Don’t swim outside of the swimming region.

Maui Beach Travel Tips

  1. Bring a mesh bag for your stuff. It may be convenient to grab a backpack, tote bag, or water-resistant duffle bag to stash beach gear such as towels, buckets, flotation devices, and lifejackets. But these types of bags keep water from evaporating, leading to mold problems or just keeping beach items from airing out.
  2. Check the restroom layout. Bathroom details may be the last thing on your mind before you plan out your beach trip. But nobody wants to be caught in a situation when you have to find a bathroom fast but you can’t find one nearby. If you’re unable to locate bathroom details on the website of the beach, you should plan on the fact that a public restroom or facility isn’t available. Make sure you use the bathroom before driving to the beach.
  3. Don’t forget the towels. Fresh towels are essential for a great time at the beach. Make sure to bring at least two towels per person – one for drying off and the other for everything else.
  4. Bring plenty of layers. Everyone knows that weather in Maui will change on a moment’s notice. It is particularly important if you are planning on going for a swim, so bring extra warm items such as a jacket, blankets, pants, and socks.

Bring a beach umbrella, pop up beach tent, or similar equipment that provides shade. It’s best to bring something that provides good ventilation.
  7. Prepare for bugs. If you plan on going to the beach early in the day or late in the day, you will find mosquitos, sand flies, fleas and other nuisance insects may ruin your experience at the beach.
  8. Alcohol. For most Maui beaches alcohol isn’t permitted don’t allow alcoholic drinks. If you are unsure, leave the booze behind.
